Created from recycled sheet metal and bass guitar strings, strum is a catch-all tray that offers creative ways of storing your musical tools.
8 Weeks, Spring 2024
ReMade is an annual project at WWU where students are challenged to repurpose post consumer and manufacturing waste into handcrafted commercial products.
There's an estimated 1.5 million pounds of used guitar strings getting thrown away in the United States alone.
How could this uniquely personal material be repurposed into a functional product?
Sustainable Material
All of strum's materials are post consumer waste sourced from local guitar shops and scrapyards.
Learning and usage of the plasma cutter for efficient manufacturing.
strum is held together purely by the tension of the strings, ensuring it stays free of adhesives and chemicals.
Expression
strum's open form allows for creative, unique ways of holding objects.
Thanks to everybody's support, strum was able achieve the highest sales for Remade 2024!
